For this week’s #HumansofCDP, we’re featuring CDP alum Stephen Masterson ‘16. Stephen was a three time facilitator with CDP, and now works as a public school teacher in New York City after earning a Master’s degree in Teaching from Ithaca College in 2017. Here’s what Stephen has to say about how CDP has continued to impact him post-graduation:
How has CDP impacted the work you are doing now?
Stephen:
My experience in CDP is the basis for my philosophy of teaching. I encourage my students to be both teachers and learners, and create structures in my classroom for them to take on both roles. I help my students relate history to themselves and their own identities, and also remind them that they are historical actors with the agency to change the future.
