Humans of CDP #151: Gianna ’27 and Ivor ’27

Our next #HumansOfCDP are Gianna Leon ‘27 and Ivor Mills ‘27! Check out what they’re saying about CDP and one another!

How is EDUC 2610 different from other classes?

Gianna:

EDUC 2610 is different from other classes because it empowers students to take agency over their learning through open dialogue. With such a diversity of experiences in each class, no two sections are ever alike. This course not only teaches students dialogic tools but also gives them the space to put those tools into practice and make them their own. The friendships and connections that come out of this class are truly special—and make the experience that much better.

Why do you keep facilitating?

Ivor:

CDP taught me so much about connection — not just with others but also how to better connect with myself and the identities that I hold. Continuing to learn as a facilitator has empowered me to become more comfortable being vulnerable with those closest to me and live more in alignment with my salient identities. When my students share moments where they begin to discover themselves in a new light or are comfortable enough and brave enough to be vulnerable with me, I am reminded of what impact this amazing program has on us, and why I continue to show up as a facilitator.

What is your favorite thing about your co-facilitator?

Gianna:

My favorite thing about Ivor is how his personality shines through in everything he does! We’re always able to laugh no matter what we’re doing, which makes working with him such a joy. His genuine enthusiasm and care for EDUC 2610’s values are palpable, he’s incredibly receptive to our students and always finds the perfect question to get them thinking deeper about a topic.

Ivor:

I am so grateful for having Gianna as my Co-facilitator because she is one of the most amazing, brilliant people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Her upbeat attitude, coupled with her deep understanding of course materials, never ceases to blow my mind, and I am so glad that I get to work so closely with her. We have become so close through CDP, and words cannot describe how lucky I am to have such a wonderful co!
