Humans of CDP #136: Alexa ’24 & Brittanie ’24

Today’s #HumansofCDP are another one of last semester's pairs Alexa Barton '25 and Brittanie Chen ’24. Check out what these two have to say about CDP and one another!

Why CDP?

Brittanie:

CDP has significantly shaped how I approach conflict. I used to avoid discomfort, but now I feel confident navigating difficult situations, whether with my students or peers. It’s given me the tools to engage in conflict and dialogue productively and with greater self-assurance, contributing to even deeper connections with people in all parts of my life.

Alexa:

CDP has given me the opportunity to connect with so many people in the classroom with my students and beyond. It’s equipped me with the vital resources and skills to develop deep relationships with people in my everyday life and a deeper connection with myself. And I’m grateful I get to help my students build those same skills, too.

What's your favorite thing about your co-facilitator?

Brittanie:

What I love most about Alexa is her positive energy and sense of humor. She always lifts the mood in our class, and I even find myself relaxing more when she’s around. She truly makes facilitating fun and interesting!

Alexa:

Brittanie is one of the most empathetic people I’ve ever met. She’s incredibly level-headed, and I know I can always turn to her for advice or support, inside or outside the classroom.
