Today’s #HumansofCDP are Reese Johnson '26 and Grace MacKrell '27. Check out what these two have to say about CDP and one another!
Why did you become a facilitator?
Reese:
I became a facilitator because I love getting to know the people I go to school with! It’s so easy to stay stuck in your major or your own little bubble and forget just how diverse and interesting the Cornell community really is. Everyone has a story, and facilitating gives me the chance to hear them. It’s such a fun and meaningful way to take on a leadership role, build real connections, and learn from others. Plus, l’ve made some amazing friends through CDP, who have truly enriched my Cornell experience for the better.
Grace:
EDUC 2610 is truly unlike any other class at Cornell. It creates a space for students to connect, reflect, and engage in meaningful conversations about society and the dynamics that shape our experiences. My overwhelmingly positive experience in the class inspired me to become a facilitator. The CDP community continually challenges me to learn and grow, transforming the way I communicate across differences and empowering me to make meaningful change.

What do you admire about your co-facilitator?
Reese:
I feel like Grace takes the words right out of my mouth. She’s so quick to ask thought-provoking questions and always knows how to engage the class in a meaningful way. She brings such great energy to our sessions, is super reliable, and just so fun to work with. Facilitating with her feels really natural and I’m grateful to have learned so much from her this semester.
Grace:
Reese is a natural leader, and I am constantly in awe of her ability to create an inclusive and engaging space for everyone in CDP. Her confidence, empathy, and insight make her an incredible facilitator, and she has a way of making everyone feel heard and valued. Whether it’s leading sections with ease or bringing positive energy to every practi, Reese sets a standard that inspires those around her. I’m grateful to work alongside her and learn from her leadership!
