Today’s #HumansofCDP are Orania Al-Bulushi '25 and Shrutika Damle '25. Check out what these two have to say about CDP and one another!
What is the impact of CDP on campus?
Orania:
CDP has been a space where I can freely engage in dialogue about current issues happening both on and off campus with people who bring different perspectives. It’s a place where I’ve had productive and meaningful conversations that push me to think critically and consider viewpoints I might not have otherwise. Through these conversations I feel like I’ve gained a much deeper and broader understanding of what’s going on in the world around me.
What have you learned about social and personal identity in CDP?
Shrutika:
I have learned that social and personal identities shape not only our interpersonal relationships but also the structures and policies that influence our lives. It is fascinating to analyze how these human-made categories have such profound and real-world consequences. Through CDP, I have explored different theories and engaged with diverse lived experiences, which has given me a new perspective on the issues I care about.

What is it like to work with your co-facilitator?
Orania:
Working with Shrutika has been a really valuable experience. She’s created so many opportunities for me to learn and grow as a peer facilitator. She fosters a space where there’s a balance of trust and challenge, pushing me to take conversations in certain directions while also supporting me and allowing me to do the same for her. It really feels like a collaborative process where we’re both learning from each other in the classroom.
Shrutika:
It has been a pleasure to finally work with Orania one-on-one and build a deeper connection after being part of CDP together for many semesters. We constantly challenge ourselves and our students to engage more critically and thoughtfully, pushing each other to grow as facilitators. Facilitating with Orania is not only fun and effortless but also a continuous learning experience. I always walk away with new perspectives that shape and enhance my approach to dialogue.
