Humans of CDP #76: Bianca ’23 & Claire ’23

Today we’re featuring Bianca Bryant ‘23 and Claire Ceske ‘23, two of our EDUC 2610 co-facilitators and this week’s #HumansofCDP! Here's what these two have to say about CDP and one another!

Why CDP?

Bianca:

CDP is the place on campus where I feel I am able to learn and grow the most. I am constantly challenged to be a more thoughtful, considerate person. CDP has also enabled me to make meaningful connections with other amazing facilitators, the teaching team, and students!

Claire:

CDP has truly been an invaluable experience in my life both through improving my ability to communicate and connect with others and through helping me understand how people’s lives are impacted by their social identities. The communication skills I have learned in CDP help me every single day and have allowed me to make so many genuine connections I otherwise would not have been able to. I came into CDP with a mindset that it was rude or impolite to acknowledge or consider the social identities of the people you interact with. CDP has helped me realize that social identities are an important aspect of a person’s life experiences, and have made me so much more comfortable talking about them.

What's your favorite thing about your co-facilitator?

Claire:

Bianca is really supportive of me and is always super open to hearing my ideas and suggestions for the class. Even though she is a returning facilitator and a total pro it never feels like there is a power imbalance between us. She is also funny and lighthearted so working together never feels like work.

Bianca:

There are so many things I love about Claire and it is great to get to collaborate with her each week. I would have to say my favorite thing about Claire is her willingness to take risks in order to challenge our students and help them grow. She shows such strong consideration for and belief in our students.
